Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ) Science Communication Office coordinated the "Science and Working Women Meeting" as part of the Science Cafe event. The event was hosted by Sütofis Gıda A.Ş.
In the program, Faculty of Education Dean and Women's Issues Application and Research Center Director Prof. Dr. Firdevs Savi Çakar and Faculty of Arts and Sciences faculty member Assoc. Dr. Canan Gönüllü shared the emergence process and historical background of March 8 International Women's Day with the participants. The talks provided information on the struggle for women's workers' rights and the place of women's labor in society.
In the program, while discussing women's contributions to science, production, and working life, participants also had the opportunity to share their views on the subject. The event highlighted the importance of strengthening the role of women in science and social life.

Assoc. Dr. Canan Gönüllü stated, “We need to realize that when women come together, they actually put up a resistance, and this has the potential to be discussed worldwide. Therefore, we must unite and strengthen our solidarity.
Emphasis on KADES in the fight against violence
Prof. Dr. Firdevs Savi Çakar also mentioned the KADES application in her speech. Çakar stated that when the emergency button in the application is pressed in any situation of violence or risk, a notification is sent to the nearest security units and the identity of the person reporting is kept confidential. Thanks to this system, women, men, children, or the elderly who are exposed to violence or witness such an event can quickly request help. Çakar expressed that thanks to the application, incidents can be intervened in a short time.
